My Favourite Artists

Updated: Jun 6, 2021

I would say that the majority of my art knowledge is advice other artists have shared over the Internet. Therefore, many of them have had an influence on my art. Here are some of my favourite artists-- ones who have changed my art drastically.

Robin Sealark: Robin is an artist and YouTuber that I discovered around 2016. She works mostly with acrylic and oil paint and was a huge influence on my landscape and portrait work. I enjoy her art advice videos where she talks about issues like inspiration, originality, and the best ways to sell art.

SamDoesArts: Sam is a super popular Instagram artist who mostly does digital portraits. Although I’ve never done digital art, I’ve always wanted to try it! His art is definitely an inspiration to me. I love the way he works with colour and does backgrounds. Recently, I've also been enjoying the way he makes use of texture in his pieces.

Gretel Lusky: I found Gretel on Pinterest and eventually on Instagram. Her style is very distinct and recognizable. I think her work is very versatile- her style works with characters, fanart, environments, objects, and more. After finding and studying her art, I’ve changed the way I work with linework and mixed media.

DrawingWiffWaffles: Rin is an amazing YouTube artist who influenced my earlier sketching and drawing work. Her YouTube videos introduced me to character design and alcohol markers. I really enjoy her art style and how she modifies it to work with different subject matter.
